Coach Otto Addo of the Black Stars has stated that his squad is ready to play without captain Thomas Partey when they take on Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying round. Kickoff for today's first leg of the doubleheader between Ghana and the Falcons is scheduled at 16:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Due to a medical condition, Partey is not included in the squad. Mohammed Kudus has been named the team's captain for this encounter. Otto Addo stressed at a pre-game news conference on Wednesday that his attention is on the players who are here in camp, not the ones who are absent.
"My job is this." We have several options for how we may play, and after staff discussion, I decided on one that I'm positive will work," he remarked. "We are focussing more on the players who are present, their attributes, and how we can motivate them to perform rather than obsessing over the players who are not present," he continued.
The Black Stars will go to Libya for the second leg of the match at the Martyrs of February Stadium in an attempt to win the qualifiers for the first time. Ghana has just one point and is now ranked third in Group F.
